The Education Offer Plan. At the beginning of each school year individual schools draft the Education Offer Plan, which is one of two main documents of the school. The Piano dell’Offerta Formativa or P.O.F., as it is called in Italian illustrates the aims and objectives the school plans to achieve in the short, medium, and long terms, the education choices, the curricular as well as extra-curricular activities the school offers.
In order to draw up the Education Offer Plan, the faculty of the school takes into account the following principles: the school welcomes pupils of all aptitudes and abilities, families of all social backgrounds; it promotes and works towards a positive, supportive social climate, aimed at enabling learners to achieve ever greater autonomy, and helping them maintain and even enhance their self-esteem. In addition, the school favours and promotes appropriate behavioural patterns and recognizes and values individual diversity which leads to the understanding and accepting of self and others.


Who develops the Education Offer Plan? The POF is developed by the school faculty, following the guidelines negotiated and put forth by the school governors. It is also in line with the learning outcomes stated in the National Curriculum, and takes into account the reality within which the school operates.
Lastly, the Education Offer Plan is not a fixed document: quite to the contrary, it is open to new efforts changes deemed useful to further improve it overall. Lastly, the schools welcomes demands and expectations set forth by the ‘customers’, governors, local authorities and agencies, community members.
