The logo was selected as the winning entry following an internal school competition entitled “Representing my School” which came to a close on 29 November 2007. This is how the assessment panel explained their choice:
The winning proposal represents both the human and cultural growth of the individual, moving forward into the future. The moving human silhouettes symbolise the informed involvement of the individual learner, assuming a protagonist role in his /her education process. The design also addresses the relational dimension, which is the basis for the human, social and civil growth of the future citizen.
The uphill climb highlights the effort and sacrifice which ‘moving’ towards a fully-rounded and on-going education entails, as demanded by present-day’s society of knowledge.
The rainbow symbolises unity and diversity of cultures, peoples and languages, as well as mutual understanding and valuing. Set in a school context, the rainbow’s colours suggest the moving spirits behind its operation and policy, as well as valuing what each and every learner brings to the shared learning setting and process.
