KINDERGARTEN
The very first class of preschool in San Calogero was set up at the beginning of the 1972-1973 school year. At first, the canteen and kitchen of the primary school were used as kindergarten. In subsequent years classes were moved to private houses. They were properly housed in the present day buildings in 1983.

The school day is as follows:
• Children arrive no earlier than 08:30.
• Lessons commence at 09:00. The first part of the school day lasts from 09:00 to 11:45 where individual, group and guided activities are alternated, each lasting 15-20 minutes.
• At about 11:45 equipment and materials are tidied up and children get ready for lunch.
• At 12:00 sharp lunch is served, under the teachers’ and aides’ surveillance.
• A brief games time, in an indoor or outdoor area where children can climb, run, tumble, and play with the other toys available.
• At 13:15 younger children are taken to the sleeping room for a nap / rest.
• After about one hour, activities resume: from storytelling and dramatization, to reading from picture books, from playing physical games to drawing and painting and action rhymes.

Children leave school between four o’clock and half past four pm.
Before and / or after school care can be provided if required.
